Liam is great, he's getting more ticklish, especially under his ribs where dad always takes big bites. We have to find new stuff to entertain him all the time because a lot of our silliness is getting too predictable. Dave says he's developing that Hagens' smirk, especially when you change him or crashland him onto the bed. He's also interacting more with the dogs; he likes to reach for them, pinch their foreheads, and laugh at them.

Liam has finally learned how to roll now he is able to move all over the floor. One minute he's in the middle of the floor and the next minute he is either over by the computer and rocking chair or under the futton. Before we know it he'll be crawling.

Hi again

Fall has finally started and Old Woman Winter is right around the corner. Things have been so busy lately that we barely have time to keep the blog site updated.

October 15th

Dave, Liam, and I decided to take a trip to the Annapolis Valley to pick up another pumpkin and get some valley apples. We stopped in Windsor for something to eat and discovered that the town was unusually busy for this time of year. As we walked down the main street we saw piles of people headed towards the water, so we decided to follow them to find out what was going on (Dave's nosy). When we got to the water we found out that the town was hosting their 7th Annual Pumpkin Regatta (a festival where people race across the river in giant pumpkins). We did not stay to watch the race because the weather was cold, Liam was fussy and Dave and I were hungry. So instead of watching the race we decided to find somewhere to eat.

October 31st

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. Dave and I dressed up and took Liam out trick or treating. We only made it to a few houses because Liam was sooo tired.

Hi Everyone

We are all doing well and enjoying the end of summer. The leaves are already turning red and yellow and the first frost is just around the corner. Liam is still learning new things everyday and he always makes us smile. He's a bit gassy sometimes, but we figure that's a bit of uncle Pete in him ;)

Liam is good. He's eating and pooping just fine. He's very responsive and we play games with him that make him laugh. One of his favourite games is the "flying game" where dad crashlands him into a bunch of pillows (usually spitting up on dad afterwards).

Hello Everyone

Its hard to believe that the summer is almost over and the count down begins for another Atlantic winter, and Liam's first winter experience. Before that happens we still hope to show Liam some of Nova Scotia's beauty. At the beginning of this month we took Liam to the beach (Crystal Crescent Beach) for the first time, while he was there he put his feet in the Atlantic ocean, played in the sand, and watched Theo swim in the water (check out the video at the bottom).

Also this month I took Liam for a few swims in the outdoor pool at Dave's work. Liam seemed to enjoy this swimming experience more than the indoor pool that he visited last month.

Auntie Tara, Liam and I made plans to go downtown to the Keith's Brewery Farmers Market and a few other places on August 12th. Our morning started off at the farmers market, the place was extremely busy as it is every Saturday morning and it was difficult pushing Liam around in his stroller but we made it through the crowd and went to a few of our favorite stands. The woman with the pet treats booth, however, was not at the market this week so we had to find the pet store that sells homemade dog and cat treats before heading home.

The following day Dave and I took Liam to Peggy's Cove for the day. While we were we went to The Sou'Wester restaurant for a bowl of chowder and a Keiths (a tradition for Dave and I), and Liam had a bottle of breastmilk.

On August 18th Dave and I took Liam and the dogs camping at Blomidon Provincial Park over looking the Minas Basin (near the Bay of Fundy). It was a last minute decision so we forgot a few things like a flashlight but other than that we all had a good time. Liam was a little bit fussy because we took him out of his usual routine but he adjusted to his surroundings quite well and managed to get a few hours sleep under the stars.

Month Four - Update

Liam turned four months today and is wearing clothes that are intended for 6, 9, and 12 month olds as well as size 3 diapers. He still has a milk dependency issue as I seem to be feeding him all day long and he never seems satisfied. During his feedings he likes to hold onto the bottle or a finger and if he is breastfeeding he usually grabs onto my hair, clothes, glasses, or my finger. Liam also has a fascination with crawling across the floor on his back, he can not be left alone for a minute or he will end up on the hard wood floor. I spend a lot of time with Liam reading him stories. He also enjoys playing the rolling game, going for nightly strolls through the neighbourhood, and giggling at the funny things his parents do to entertain him.

Before the month was out Dave and I took Liam to the Spryfield Public Library to get his first library card and sign out some books. Also this month we took Liam to the Busker Festival, but he did not see much because it was really busy.

Hello Everyone

We're all doing good. Dave is working long hours and Liam and I spend a lot of time inside partly because the weather hasn't been good plus Liam wants to nurse all day long. Before the summer is out we hope to be able to take Laim camping and to a beach where he can sit in the sand for the first time.


July 2nd

Today I put together Liam's crib. The instructions were not that great but I managed to work the puzzle out. We're trying to get Liam used to the crib by placing him in it for naps during the afternoon or after a diaper change. Liam appears to like the crib, he typically looks out the window or stares at his butterfly lights hanging over the window.

July 12th

Dave and I took Liam to see the doctor today for his vaccinations and a check-up. The doctor said Laim's height and weight are a little outside the normal growth curve for his age, however it is not a concern at this point as it may level off at some point. Liam was good at the doctor until the nurse came in and gave him his vaccinations, it took a cuddle from his mom and dad to calm him down.

July 16th

Tara came over to visit Liam today and we made plans to take him downtown to the Keith's Brewery market, Venus Envy, Little Mysteries, and possibly the Freaky Lunchbox (depending on how the day goes). While Autie Tara was here we all went to a neighborhood party that was happening at the end of our street, this was Liam's first neighborhood party and he really enjoyed it because he was the center of atttention and he got to meet the neighbors.

Hi Everyone

It's official. Liam has milk dependency issues. He gets fussy when he's in withdrawel, plus he cries and gets gassy. We'd take him to a treatment center but he won't stop drinking milk long enough for us to get him there. He loves dancing with his mom and is starting to laugh at me every time I change his diaper. Yea, very funny!

We're having a great summer so far, we've had lots of fog and rain with a few hot sunny days in between. We go for lots of walks with Liam and the dogs, Theo goes swimming every day. Bear just follows along and pees on every 11th tree. Hope everyone is doing right good...

Its hard to believe that Liam is two months old today, where did the time go? Liam was born on April 24th at the IWK in Halifax. At the time of his birth he weighed 9 pounds 10.7 ounces and was 52.5 cm long. Now, two months later Liam is smiling and cooing (when he is not busy feeding). Liam also enjoys dancing to Great Big Sea and other songs that we have collected for him.

June 25,2006

Dave and I took Liam downtown Halifax today. The afternoon started with breakfast at Cora's, where poor Liam spent his time sitting in his car seat at the table waiting patiently for his parents to finish their breakfast.


June 31, 2006

Dave and I took Liam shopping today to buy him a crib. We decided to get him a 4-in-1 crib so that he would get a lot of use out of it. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Hagens and Wilson for Liam's new crib. He can't wait until someone puts it together for him.
